Marti Steussy
Marti Steussy received her M.Div. from the Earlham School of Religion in 1982 and her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Vanderbilt University in 1992. She is an ordained minister in the Christian Church/Disciples of Christ and MacAllister-Petticrew Professor of Biblical Interpretation at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, where she has been teaching--and storytelling!--since 1988.
She began her publishing career with two science fiction novels, but has since focused on the field of biblical studies, most recently with the CHALICE INTRODUCTION TO THE OLD TESTAMENT, edited by and containing several chapters from Marti, and PSALMS: A COMMENTARY FOR TODAY (also from Chalice).
Her academic interests include biblical storytelling and issues of religion, science, and ecology. She spent a 2005 sabbatical studying the impact of creative activity on spiritual transformation, and is currently exploring the implications of that work for the church's relationship to the Bible.
